Developers of Snapchat do not like jailbreakers too much and use a highly invasive DRM system. Here is how to get around and fix the bug on the iOS 11 jailbreak with Snapchat black screen camera.
Why is Snapchat screen going black during a jailbreak? Why?
As you know, when it comes to jail broken devices, Snapchat doesn’t get along well. with them. Many users report a strange bug on iOS 11 when the camera is black and nothing is displayed. All these users have one common feature–the Electra jailbreak RC build. On beta 11-3 and other older versions, the camera worked quite well.
Jailbreaking gives its users root access that is otherwise restricted, allowing them to download and install additional applications, themes, extensions, etc. that are not available on Apple’s app store. Some users tend to face problems with their Apple iOS 11 devices after jailbreak that are inevitable if you mess with your device’s security. But such problems can be solved. If you install Cydia’s Anemone theme manager after jailbreak, you’re likely to have trouble with your Snapchat camera.
In this jailbreak, it seems that Snapchat detects Cydia’s presence and therefore blocks the user from using the camera. But even in the latest version, some users don’t face this issue. I’m now using Electra’s RC 1.0.1 build. Luckily enough, in both jailbreak and no-jailbreak modes, it runs perfectly on my iPhone 7 plus. You can try any of the following fixes if you have this problem.
Here’s a list of few tweaks that can interfere with Snapchat.
Fixing Snapchat black camera screen bug on Electra jailbreak
This bug’s root cause is the latest version of Anemone theme engine. Despite the latest update from Coolstar, the bug persists on almost all Apple devices. First, remove your device from Anemone. By launching Cydia, you can do the same, then go to Installed > Anemone > Modify > Remove. Reinstall the App Store snapchat. For the time being, you only need to remove Anemone. Once you push an update from Coolstar, you can reinstall it. If the problem persists, try to remove any problem tweaks you may have.
This social networking app can also interfere with jailbreak themes. Remove any theme you are currently using and check if the bug persists. If so, follow the fix below.
Method 3 (recommended)
You can easily modify it with patched files if you don’t want to remove Anemone.
- Step 1 Download from this link the patched files.
- Step 2 Use the free ZipApp app to extract the on-device ZIP archive.
- Step 3 Start the file manager for Filza. You can download it from here if you don’t have it on your device.
- Step 4 Transfer to /Library / MobileSubstrate / DynamicLibraries the files present in the extracted folder. Alternatively, from this repository, you can pick up the patched version directly–remyla.yourepo.com. That’s all it has! You can continue to use the patched version until a future update arrives.
These are the solutions that will certainly help you with your Snapchat camera if you face any problem. We tried our best to fix this issue of the Snapchat black camera in Electra jailbreak on iOS 11.1.2, 11.1, iOS 12 and many other versions if you have any further questions please contact us.
